Bonding mortar based on fireproof cement, quartz aggregates and special additives, suitable for fire brick assembly.
Excels for high resistance to temperatures up to 1.050 °C and high bonding power. It is resistant to temperature variations developed at fireplace furnaces without cracking. It quickly develops its final strength.
Application
The D-8 mortar is ideal for building and joint filling fire bricks in fireplaces, furnaces, barbecues, smokestacks etc.
It is suitable for restoring worn joints, putty repairs of cracks (a common effect) as well as bonding of detached fire bricks.
Instructions
1. Surface preparation
The fire bricks shall be clean and free from dust.
Furthermore it is necessary that fire bricks and their substrate are wetted before installation or joint filling.
2. Application
Empty the powder in clean water at a mixing ratio 2 parts water to 5 parts powder or 7-7.5 lt water in 25 kg powder (1.4-1.5 lt for 5 kg), stirring with power drill at low rpm until a homogenous, lump free mass is obtained.
The mix will remain workable for 3 hours.
Spread the mix on the fire bricks using trowel, and also fit DUROSTICK 5-7 mm plastic guides.
Joint filling shall be carried out using the actual adhesive, within 20 minutes from installation. Cleaning shall be carried out afterwards using damp sponge, 5-10 minutes after finishing.
The fireplace shall be tested after 24 hours for proper operation or to make repairs to the fireproof cladding. Allow 5 days before firing the fireplace or furnace.
